Diego Pérez Burín

Diego Pérez Burín (Montevideo, February 9, 1962 ) is a former tennis player from Uruguay. It is one of the best tennis players in Uruguayan history with Marcelo Filippini and who has reached the highest in the world ranking of individual professionals.

He turned pro in 1981 and in 1984 reached No. 27 in the world rankings, the best position for a Uruguayan player so far. In 1985 he reached his first final at the ATP tournament in the ATP Buenos Aires where he lost in the final against Serbian Davis. Later that same year, get your unique professional degree in the form of singles in the French city of Bordeaux, on clay courts. In doubles, won three other titles in ATP level.

His game was very suited to the slow fields and played a few tournaments on hard courts. His best performance at a Grand Slam was at 1992 Roland Garros where he reached the fourth round after beating the front wheel to Richard Krajicek, after losing to Swede Nicklas Kulti . Among the most stunning victories of his career include those with Guillermo Vilas, Yannick Noah , Boris Becker and Jim Courier, who won the tournament in Kitzbuhel 1992 when he was the No. 1 in the world and had won the French Open that year.

It is also, along with Marcelo Filippini, Uruguayan player with the most wins in singles for the Uruguay Davis Cup Team.
